Performance and Expansion
Z790 lets you overclock unlocked K-series processors and DDR5 memory with XMP profiles. The main x16 slot runs at PCIe 5.0 from the CPU, with two more x16-length slots (PCIe 4.0 x4 and PCIe 3.0 x4) from the chipset. Four M.2 slots and six SATA ports give plenty of room for NVMe SSDs and hard drives, with RAID 0/1/5/10 support.
Connectivity and Design
The back panel has a USB Type-C port with USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, red USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and more USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 ports. Networking is handled by Realtek 2.5GbE LAN plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The white PCB, heatsinks and I/O cover make it a natural fit for all-white cases, coolers and graphics cards.
